Description

One-Pan Creamy Beef & Noodles is an easy comfort-food dinner made with savory ground beef, tender egg noodles, onions, garlic, and a rich creamy sauce. Beef broth, milk, sour cream, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce create a flavorful skillet meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (85/15 recommended)
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2โ€“3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2ยฝ cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1โ€“2 tablespoons flour
  • ยฝ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ยฝ teaspoon dried thyme, optional
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large deep skillet or sautรฉ pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5โ€“7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
  2. Add the diced onion and cook for 3โ€“4 minutes, until softened.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Drain excess grease from the skillet if necessary.
  5. Add the butter and stir until melted.
  6. Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir well. Cook for about 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
  7. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  8. Add the milk, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and optional dried thyme. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  9. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  10. Add the egg noodles directly to the skillet and stir to make sure they are mostly submerged in the liquid.
  11. Cover and simmer for 8โ€“10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender and have absorbed some of the sauce.
  12. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  13. Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and black pepper if needed.
  14. Let the noodles rest for 2โ€“3 minutes so the sauce can thicken slightly.
  15. Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use 85/15 ground beef for a flavorful and juicy result, draining excess grease if necessary.
  • Add the flour before the liquid to help create a smooth, creamy sauce.
  • Stir the noodles occasionally while they cook to prevent them from sticking together.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick, add a small splash of beef broth or milk.
  • Stir in the sour cream after removing the skillet from the heat to help prevent curdling.
  • Worcestershire sauce adds savory depth and complements the beef.
  • For extra flavor, freshly cracked black pepper works especially well in this creamy sauce.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently with a splash of milk or beef broth to loosen the sauce.
