Description

Kielbasa and Pierogi Bake is a comforting and hearty casserole featuring potato and cheese pierogies, savory kielbasa, creamy sauce, and melted cheddar cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) package frozen potato and cheese pierogies
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (14 oz) kielbasa sausage, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. Cook pierogies according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onion and sautรฉ until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add sliced kielbasa and cook until lightly browned.
  5. In a bowl, combine sour cream, cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika until smooth.
  6. In a greased baking dish, layer pierogies, kielbasa and onion mixture, and pour the creamy sauce over the top. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly.
  7. Bake 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Optional: add a sprinkle of smoked paprika for extra flavor and color.
  • Can substitute chicken or turkey sausage for a different twist.
