Description
Kielbasa and Pierogi Bake is a comforting and hearty casserole featuring potato and cheese pierogies, savory kielbasa, creamy sauce, and melted cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz) package frozen potato and cheese pierogies
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 (14 oz) kielbasa sausage, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- Cook pierogies according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onion and sautรฉ until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add sliced kielbasa and cook until lightly browned.
- In a bowl, combine sour cream, cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika until smooth.
- In a greased baking dish, layer pierogies, kielbasa and onion mixture, and pour the creamy sauce over the top. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly.
- Bake 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Optional: add a sprinkle of smoked paprika for extra flavor and color.
- Can substitute chicken or turkey sausage for a different twist.
- Leftovers reheat well in the oven or microwave.
