Ingredients
- 2½ lb (1.1 kg) sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups (360 ml) heavy cream
- ½ cup (120 ml) milk
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheese (Gruyère, mozzarella, or cheddar)
- ¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, paprika, and nutmeg. Stir well and heat gently.
- Layer sliced sweet potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Pour cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley before serving.
