Description

These Garlic Scalloped Sweet Potatoes are creamy, cheesy, and packed with rich garlic flavor. Thinly sliced sweet potatoes are baked in a velvety cream sauce with melted cheese and warm spices, creating the perfect comforting side dish.


Ingredients

  • lb (1.1 kg) sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups (360 ml) heavy cream
  • ½ cup (120 ml) milk
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheese (Gruyère, mozzarella, or cheddar)
  • ¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, paprika, and nutmeg. Stir well and heat gently.
  4. Layer sliced sweet potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  5. Pour cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese and Parmesan on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley before serving.
