Description

This Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp is a bold, restaurant-style dish featuring juicy Cajun-seasoned chicken, buttery shrimp, and a rich bourbon cream sauce. Itโ€™s a flavorful, slightly spicy skillet meal inspired by classic New Orleans cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and add shrimp. Season with Cajun seasoning and cook until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat slightly and carefully add bourbon to deglaze the pan. Let it simmer for 1โ€“2 minutes.
  5. Stir in heavy cream, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and red pepper flakes. Simmer until sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Return chicken and shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  7. Simmer for 2โ€“3 more minutes until everything is heated through.
  8. Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Be careful when adding bourbon to a hot pan.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning for more or less heat.
  • Best served immediately while the sauce is creamy and smooth.
