This Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp is a bold, restaurant-style dish featuring juicy Cajun-seasoned chicken, buttery shrimp, and a rich bourbon cream sauce. Itโs a flavorful, slightly spicy skillet meal inspired by classic New Orleans cooking.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and add shrimp. Season with Cajun seasoning and cook until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat slightly and carefully add bourbon to deglaze the pan. Let it simmer for 1โ2 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and red pepper flakes. Simmer until sauce thickens slightly.
- Return chicken and shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Simmer for 2โ3 more minutes until everything is heated through.
- Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- Be careful when adding bourbon to a hot pan.
- Adjust Cajun seasoning for more or less heat.
