Description

These Best Chocolate Chip Cookies are rich, buttery, and packed with both semisweet chocolate chips and chunks of dark chocolate. Melted butter gives the cookies a deep flavor and wonderfully chewy centers with golden, crisp edges.

Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups (320 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/4 cups (2 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (170 g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (120 g) coarsely chopped chocolate wafers or discs, or chocolate from a bar, preferably 70% cacao or higher

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and kosher salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix the dough.
  6. Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and chopped chocolate until evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving several inches between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10โ€“12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For thicker, chewier cookies, chill the dough for 20โ€“30 minutes before baking.
  • Do not overbake the cookies; the centers should look slightly underdone when they come out of the oven.
  • Using a combination of chocolate chips and chopped dark chocolate creates a richer chocolate flavor and a variety of textures.
  • Store cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
