Ingredients
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ยฝ teaspoons baking powder
- ยฝ teaspoon salt
- ยฝ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- ยฝ cup (120ml) whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the Cinnamon-Sugar Layer:
- ยฝ cup (100g) brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ยผ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 ยฝ cups (360ml) hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour hot water over the cinnamon-sugar layer; do not stir.
- Bake for 35โ40 minutes until the top is golden and the cobbler is bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Optional: serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Do not stir the water into the batter; it forms the gooey caramel layer naturally.
- For extra warmth, sprinkle with more cinnamon before baking.
