Stuffed Italian Meatloaf is a flavorful and hearty dinner made with seasoned ground beef and Italian sausage, filled with melted mozzarella, marinara sauce, and optional spinach. This comforting baked dish is perfect for family meals and special gatherings.
Ingredients
- Meatloaf:
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Filling:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup chopped spinach (optional)
- 1/4 cup marinara sauce
- Topping:
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, eggs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, parsley, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
- On parchment paper, press the meat mixture into a large rectangle.
- Spread marinara sauce over the center, then add mozzarella and spinach if using.
- Carefully roll the meatloaf lengthwise, sealing edges and placing seam-side down.
- Transfer to baking sheet or loaf pan.
- Spread remaining marinara sauce on top and sprinkle with Parmesan.
- Bake for 50โ60 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160ยฐF (71ยฐC).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Allow meatloaf to rest before slicing for cleaner cuts.
- You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, or a side salad.
