Sour Cream Beef Noodle Casserole is a creamy, cheesy, and hearty comfort dish perfect for family dinners. Tender ground beef, savory tomato sauce, and soft egg noodles are baked together with a rich blend of sour cream, cottage cheese, and cheddar for ultimate flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- Cook egg noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef with chopped onion and garlic until beef is fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add tomato sauce and Italian seasoning to beef mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked noodles, beef mixture, sour cream, cottage cheese, and 1/2 cup cheddar cheese. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake for 25โ30 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted and golden.
Notes
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Optional: Add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
