Description
Sour Cream Beef Noodle Casserole is a rich and comforting baked pasta dish made with seasoned ground beef, tender egg noodles, creamy sour cream and cottage cheese, and topped with melted cheddar cheese. Itโs a classic family favorite perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- Cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5โ7 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream and cottage cheese.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the noodles, half of the beef mixture, and half of the sour cream mixture. Repeat layers.
- Top with grated cheddar cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20โ25 minutes, until hot and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use full-fat dairy for extra creaminess.
- Add a layer of mozzarella for more cheese pull.
- Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
