Description

Sour Cream Beef Noodle Casserole is a rich and comforting baked pasta dish made with seasoned ground beef, tender egg noodles, creamy sour cream and cottage cheese, and topped with melted cheddar cheese. Itโ€™s a classic family favorite perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5โ€“7 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix sour cream and cottage cheese.
  7. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the noodles, half of the beef mixture, and half of the sour cream mixture. Repeat layers.
  8. Top with grated cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake uncovered for 20โ€“25 minutes, until hot and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use full-fat dairy for extra creaminess.
  • Add a layer of mozzarella for more cheese pull.
  • Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking.
