Description

Mushroom and Swiss Burger Casserole is a rich and comforting baked dish made with seasoned ground beef, sautรฉed mushrooms and onions, and a creamy Swiss cheese layer. It delivers all the classic burger flavors in an easy family-style casserole.


Ingredients

  • Casserole Base:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Creamy Layer:
  • 6 oz Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Assembly:
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onions and mushrooms; cook until softened.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  6. Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Spread mixture into a baking dish.
  9. Spread sour cream evenly over the beef mixture.
  10. Top with Swiss cheese slices.
  11. Bake for 20โ€“25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Serve over toasted hamburger buns and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a low-carb version, skip the buns and serve alone or over cauliflower rice.
  • Cheddar or mozzarella can replace Swiss cheese.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
