Mushroom and Swiss Burger Casserole is a rich and comforting baked dish made with seasoned ground beef, sautรฉed mushrooms and onions, and a creamy Swiss cheese layer. It delivers all the classic burger flavors in an easy family-style casserole.
Ingredients
- Casserole Base:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Creamy Layer:
- 6 oz Swiss cheese, sliced
- 1 cup sour cream
- Assembly:
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onions and mushrooms; cook until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread mixture into a baking dish.
- Spread sour cream evenly over the beef mixture.
- Top with Swiss cheese slices.
- Bake for 20โ25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve over toasted hamburger buns and garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a low-carb version, skip the buns and serve alone or over cauliflower rice.
- Cheddar or mozzarella can replace Swiss cheese.
- Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
