Description

Italian Sausage & Pepper Casserole is a hearty, comforting dish packed with flavorful Italian sausage, colorful bell peppers, and a rich tomato base, all topped with gooey mozzarella cheese. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner or a family gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 bell peppers (red and green), sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook Italian sausage until browned and cooked through. Remove and slice if needed.
  3. In the same skillet, sautรฉ onions and bell peppers until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5โ€“7 minutes.
  5. Combine sausage with the pepper-tomato mixture and transfer to a baking dish.
  6. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake uncovered for 15โ€“20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve hot.
