Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken is a sweet and savory dish featuring tender chicken breasts or thighs glazed with a buttery garlic and brown sugar sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 5 cloves garlic, finely minced
- โ cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ยฝ teaspoon salt
- ยฝ teaspoon black pepper
- ยฝ teaspoon onion powder
- ยผ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter for finishing
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear chicken breasts until golden brown on both sides. Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, add garlic and sautรฉ for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Cook for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return chicken to skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and transfer skillet to oven (or continue on stovetop, covered) for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
- Remove from heat and stir in butter for a glossy finish. Garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
- Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or with steamed vegetables.
- Optional: adjust red pepper flakes for desired spiciness.
