Description

These French Toast Roll-Ups are a fun and easy breakfast treat. Soft white bread is rolled with a cinnamon-sugar filling, cooked to golden perfection, and served with maple syrup for a delicious morning snack or breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 8 slices soft white bread, crusts cut off
  • 3 tablespoons butter, for saute pan
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon cinnamon to make the filling.
  2. Flatten each bread slice with a rolling pin. Spread a thin layer of the cinnamon-sugar butter mixture onto each slice.
  3. Roll up each slice tightly and set aside.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon to make the egg mixture.
  5. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring it is coated, then place in skillet.
  6. Cook, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
  7. Serve warm with maple syrup for drizzling.

Notes

  • Use soft white bread for best results; slightly stale bread works too.
  • These roll-ups can be made ahead and warmed in a skillet or oven before serving.
  • Optional: sprinkle powdered sugar or add a drizzle of chocolate for extra sweetness.
