Description
French Onion Chicken Rice Bake is a comforting, cheesy casserole combining tender chicken, fluffy rice, creamy soups, and crispy French fried onions for a delicious, easy dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (e.g., rotisserie)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
- 1½ cups French fried onions, divided
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked rice, shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, French onion soup, sour cream, half of the shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Top with remaining cheese and 3/4 of the French fried onions.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with remaining French fried onions and chopped parsley.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked rice with brown rice or quinoa for a healthier twist.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- Adding caramelized onions to the mixture enhances the French onion flavor.
