Description
Easy Turtle Bars feature a buttery shortbread crust, a rich caramel pecan layer, and a smooth chocolate topping. Garnish with extra pecans, sea salt, or drizzled caramel for a decadent treat.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- Optional: extra chopped pecans, sea salt flakes, drizzled caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- For the crust: In a bowl, combine flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Cut in cold cubed butter until mixture is crumbly. Press evenly into prepared pan and bake 12–15 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from oven.
- For the caramel pecan layer: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 2/3 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar together. Stir in pecans and cook for 2–3 minutes. Pour over baked crust and spread evenly.
- Bake for another 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
- For the chocolate topping: Sprinkle milk chocolate chips over warm caramel layer. Let sit 2–3 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
- Optional: Sprinkle extra chopped pecans, sea salt, or drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
- Allow bars to cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy.
