Description

Easy Turtle Bars feature a buttery shortbread crust, a rich caramel pecan layer, and a smooth chocolate topping. Garnish with extra pecans, sea salt, or drizzled caramel for a decadent treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • Optional: extra chopped pecans, sea salt flakes, drizzled caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. For the crust: In a bowl, combine flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Cut in cold cubed butter until mixture is crumbly. Press evenly into prepared pan and bake 12–15 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from oven.
  3. For the caramel pecan layer: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 2/3 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar together. Stir in pecans and cook for 2–3 minutes. Pour over baked crust and spread evenly.
  4. Bake for another 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
  5. For the chocolate topping: Sprinkle milk chocolate chips over warm caramel layer. Let sit 2–3 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle extra chopped pecans, sea salt, or drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
  7. Allow bars to cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate and fresh pecans for the best flavor.
  • Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For a firmer chocolate layer, chill bars in the refrigerator before cutting.
