Description

Easy Turtle Bars are a decadent dessert with a buttery crust, caramel pecan layer, and rich chocolate topping. Perfect for holidays, parties, or an indulgent treat any time!


Ingredients

  • For the Crust:
    • 1 ยฝ cups all-purpose flour
    • ยฝ cup brown sugar, packed
    • ยฝ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • For the Caramel Pecan Layer:
    • 1 cup pecan halves
    • โ…” cup butter
    • ยฝ cup brown sugar, packed
  • For the Chocolate Topping:
    • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • Optional Garnishes:
    • Extra chopped pecans
    • Sea salt flakes
    • Drizzled caramel sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Make the crust: Combine flour, brown sugar, and cold cubed butter in a bowl. Use a pastry cutter or fingers to blend until crumbly. Press into the prepared pan and bake for 12โ€“15 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Prepare caramel pecan layer: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar together. Stir in pecans and cook for 1โ€“2 minutes. Pour over the baked crust and spread evenly.
  4. Return pan to oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Remove and let cool slightly.
  5. Melt chocolate chips in a microwave or double boiler until smooth. Pour over the caramel pecan layer and spread evenly.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle extra chopped pecans, sea salt flakes, or drizzle caramel sauce on top.
  7. Allow bars to set completely (about 1โ€“2 hours at room temperature) before cutting into squares and serving.
