Easy Turtle Bars are decadent layered bars with a buttery crust, gooey caramel pecan filling, and rich chocolate topping. Perfect for dessert lovers and special occasions.
Ingredients
Crust
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Caramel Pecan Layer
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
Chocolate Topping
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
Optional Garnishes
- Extra chopped pecans
- Sea salt flakes
- Drizzled caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- Prepare crust: combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press evenly into the pan and bake 12โ15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Prepare caramel pecan layer: melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in pecans and cook 2โ3 minutes. Spread over baked crust.
- Bake for an additional 10 minutes, then remove from oven and let cool slightly.
- Prepare chocolate topping: melt chocolate chips over low heat or in microwave with cream if desired. Pour over caramel pecan layer and spread evenly.
- Optional: sprinkle extra chopped pecans, sea salt, or drizzle caramel over top.
- Allow bars to set completely before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate for best results.
- Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3โ4 days.
- For extra gooey caramel, add a little heavy cream to the caramel mixture.
