Description
Char Siu Chicken features tender chicken thighs marinated in a sweet, savory, and aromatic char siu sauce. This Chinese-inspired dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or special meals.
Ingredients
- 1ยฝ pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- ยผ cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- ยฝ teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil to make the marinade.
- Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour marinade over them. Marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Arrange chicken on the rack and brush with marinade. Bake for 25โ30 minutes, flipping halfway and basting with remaining marinade, until chicken is cooked through and slightly caramelized.
- Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.
Notes
- Marinating overnight enhances flavor and tenderness.
- Can broil for the last 2โ3 minutes for extra caramelization.
- Leftovers can be used in fried rice, noodles, or sandwiches.
