Description

Char Siu Chicken features tender chicken thighs marinated in a sweet, savory, and aromatic char siu sauce. This Chinese-inspired dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or special meals.


Ingredients

  • 1ยฝ pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • ยผ cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • ยฝ teaspoon sesame oil


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil to make the marinade.
  2. Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour marinade over them. Marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  4. Arrange chicken on the rack and brush with marinade. Bake for 25โ€“30 minutes, flipping halfway and basting with remaining marinade, until chicken is cooked through and slightly caramelized.
  5. Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.
